Joseba Sarrionandia Uribelarrea

Joseba Sarrionandia (Iurreta, 1958) studied Sociology and Basque Philology. From 1980 to 1985 he was in prison and from 1985 to 2021 in exile. In all these years, Sarrionandia has written an extensive body of work in which he has worked in almost all genres: chronicles, short stories, novels, essays, poetry and literature for young people. In 2016 it became known that he was in Havana when the Etxepare Basque Institute appointed him Basque reader at the University of Havana. In April 2021 he returned to the Basque Country.
