Mari Luz Esteban

Mari Luz Esteban holds a degree in Medicine from the University of the Basque Country / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (1983), and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Barcelona (1993). She worked as a family planning doctor from 1984 to 1996 in Bizkaia. Since 1994 she has been teaching social anthropology, first at the University of León, then at the Public University of Navarre and, since 1998, at the UPV/EHU, where she is also director of the Department of Philosophy and Social Anthropology, and coordinator of the University Master’s Degree in Feminist and Gender Studies. She specializes in feminist anthropology and the anthropology of medicine.
