DAVID PÉREZ SAÑUDO (Bilbao, 1987)

In 2020, David co-wrote and directed his début feature Ane, which premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival and won the Irizar Award for Best Basque Feature Film and the Best Basque Screenplay Award. Celebrated as one of independent Spanish film’s most outstanding films that year, Ane earned five nominations at the Goya Awards, included Best Film, Best New Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Ultimately, it took home three Goya awards: Best Adapted Screenplay (Marina Parés and David Pérez Sañudo), Best Leading Actress (Patricia López Arnaiz), and Best Emerging Actress (Jone Laspiur). Following Los últimos románticos (2024), David’s next project will be Sacamantecas (Amania Films and La Claqueta, with collaboration from ETB, RTVE, Amazon, and Latido Films), which will be filmed between 2024 and 2025.

With his short films, David has won more than 200 awards and has been selected for festivals including Málaga (Biznaga for Best Director), Clermont-Ferrand, Gijón, Seminci, ZINEBI, Manchester, Sitges, and Brest.

David has a Doctorate in Audiovisual Communication and has been a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, Universidad Carlos III, ESCAC, and for the Screenplay Master’s Programme at the Pontifical University of Salamanca.
