The Up Series: 21 Up

What happens if a film director decides to film a group of fourteen English adolescents every seven years to find out how they are growing up and how their lives are turning out? Michael Apted made this landmark documentary film for British television, which is still revisited every seven years (there have already been eight episodes, the last in 2012). In its conception of time, it is a clear precedent for Richard Linklater’s Boyhood.

We present the first three episodes of the series (21 up is the last one), the ones dealing with our season and revisiting childhood, adolescence and youth: 7, 14 and 21 year-olds.
