Une jolie vallée, Gaël Lépingle, France, 2015, 54', OV with Spanish subtitles.
This is a musical comedy set in a small town in Provence, interpreted by the local chorists and other inhabitants, and is an adaptation of Dumas's classic The Three Musketeers. Yesss! When we first saw this film at the Marseilles Film Festival last summer, it reminded us of the Orfeón Donostiarra choral society and the Basque love of singing. We thought it would be fun to bring the movie to Donostia and try to inspire people to take up fencing and choral singing. “One for all and all for one / Muskehounds are always ready”. And yes, we were also reminded of the theme tune to the television series from our childhood, Dogtenan and the Three Muskehounds. And sure enough, all the characters are here in the film: Cardinal Richelieu, Milady, the Comte de Rochefort and Queen Annue of Austria.
