Miren Arenzana

From her first pieces in the late eighties, Miren Arenzana has been distinguished by sculptural practice related to the field of design and fashion through references ranging from modernity to applied art and popular culture. Her early works were subtle and complex sculptural "artefacts", not without play and irony, where the artist combined cold industrial materials (such as Plexiglas and polycarbonate) with objets trouvés associated with the construction of femininity. In her recent work Arenzana has moved to an area of confluence between the fields of art and technology, blurring functionality and "applied" concepts with symbols and didactics.

Miren Arenzana (Bilbao, 1965) lives and works in Bilbao. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Leioa (UPV/EHU) in 1989, she continued her studies at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. In said city, she later completed a master's degree in product design at the Royal College of Art and Design.
