As a culmination of the two-year program, Stimulants: Circulation and Euphoria this workshop aims to explore the nature and implications of “heightened senses” by engagement with such “lowly substances” as ordinary foods, drink, and simple additives as sugar, spices or vitamins.
Such an exploration could integrate Hillel Schwartz’s work on the history of the senses (kinaesthetics of the body in motion; mentalities and physiologies of time; the history of noise and Western soundscapes; contradictory cultural impulses toward replication and uniqueness of experience; color vision and the history of color and of painted sculptures) with the momentum of the associated Out of Sync (Music and Revolutions) music series and the current exhibition.
The workshop will be given in English.
There are two modalities to register in the workshop. You can choose to register in two days long workshop or you can choose to participate in each of the 5 modules that form the workshop separately.
