Cristina Goberna is a practitioner architect, educator, critic, consultant and curator although she prefers to be known as a master fencer. As a Fulbright Fellow she was awarded a Ms in Advance Architectural Design by the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation of Columbia University and as a Caja Madrid Fellow, an Advance Architectural Research Certificate by the same school. She completed her Bachelor in Architecture at the University of Seville, Spain, and is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Architecture of Barcelona where she develops her dissertation “From Pan to Europan or the Construction of the European Union Urban Imaginary”. She is founder partner of Fake Industries, Architectural Agonism, an architectural office based in Barcelona and New York, awarded with the 2009 Young Architects Forum Prize of the Architectural League of New York and winner of the prestigious young European competition Europan in 2003, 2005 ,2009 and 2012. Her work has been exhibited internationally and her projects and writings have been published widely. She was a member of the committee and jury of the Architectural League of New York 2010 Young Architects Prize and, in 2010-2011 she was the curator, manager and coordinator of a new centre specialized in Architectural publications at Van Alen Institute and a visiting scholar at the NYU Institute of Fine Arts (IFA). Currently, she is Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation in Columbia University.
