Madre, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Spain, 2017, 18’
This acclaimed and multi-award-winning short film by Rodrigo Sorogoyen will form the basis of his upcoming film of the same name, due to be released in autumn 2019. Winner of the 2017 Goya for Best Short Film and nominated for an Oscar in 2019. The day-to-day conversations between Marta and her mother become a tragic race against the clock after they receive a call from Marta's son.

Harold and Maude, Hal Ashby, USA, 1971, 90'
In his recent visit to Tabakalera, Mariano Llinás talked about the importance of reclaiming cinemas as unique, safe, otherworldly and magical spaces where anything is possible and lives can—and should—be changed forever. Think of it as a sort of cinematic alchemy. The space transforms our experience and time into something much brighter and more alive. With this in mind, we bring you a radical and unique film and perhaps the most beautiful and heartrending love story in the history of cinema. It is also perhaps the saddest, most surreal and most daring black comedy of all times: Harold & Maude (1971), by the great Hal Ashby.

Harold is a maladjusted youth who likes to go to funerals of people he doesn’t know. Maude is a 79-year-old woman who steals cars and lives surrounded by plants. If you’ve never heard of this film, you mus know it constitutes the origin of the cinema of Wes Anderson, Alexander Payne, Judd Apatow, Richard Linklater and the Farrelly brothers. If you've never seen it on the big screen, this is your chance.
