Paris 1900, Nicole Védrès, France, 1947, 74'  2K DCP, OV FR, Sub ES

Remastered 2K DCP. International revival at the Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival (Bologna), 2017.

A classic example of a historic film montage, Paris 1900 is both a visual documentation of a great city and an essay on the passage of time. The write and filmmaker Nicole Vedrès used documents from the time and extracts from more than seven hundred films that reflect life in Paris between 1900 and 1914. From the Exposition Universelle to the great figures of high French society, this piece's images become a celebration of the mundane and of the people who populated the world at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Admired by André Bazin and Chris Marker, this chronicle of the political, social, and artistic life of the Paris of the Belle Époque had the collaboration of Alain Resnais and the recently deceased Yannick Bellon, which Filmoteca Vasca (the Basque Film Archives) will dedicate a film cycle to during the month of October at Tabakalera. Paris 1900 took part in the Official Selection of the Cannes Festival, in addition to having won the Louis Delluc and Georges Méliès Awards. This version of the film has been restored and digitally remastered in 2K by Les Films du Panthéon with the assistance of the CNC (Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée).
