The Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelešjan was not known in the West until 1983, when the French critic Serge Daney, together with a few admirers, introduced his work to Europe. Il Silenzio di Pelesjan does not pretend to be a biography, not even a documentary, but simply the result of an extraordinary undertaking: filming, for the first time in thirty years, one of the greatest directors in the history of cinema.
