Jorge Hurtado

Jorge Hurtado is a psychiatrist who specialises in psychoactive substances, he is an advisor in the Bolivian parliament on the subject of coca and also a consultant for the Bolivian Coca Farmers Federations. He is a psychiatrist who specialises in drugs. In 1996 he founded the Coca Museum (La Paz, Bolivia) with Dr. Roxana Miranda Larrea. He is the author of various books that study this substance from a historical, social and anthropological perspective, which have been translated into various languages. Doctors Hurtado & Miranda are currently carrying out medical research on the therapeutic use of coca leaves.
