Meeting on sustainability, sewing, and art
Betile crocanti is a collaborative and experimental space for reconverting marginalised, discarded, or used materials, and transforming them, sewing them, or manipulating them into new skins, bones, and structures.
The goal of this space is to create an open group aimed at young people, where they can collectively search for alternatives for the wasted, left over, or discarded through sewing. We seek out the unlikely treasure troves where these materials are found, rescue them, and reconvert them into new types of textiles, new types of clothing, sculptures, and contraptions with the aim of giving them the maximum amount of life, altering their destiny and, perhaps, discovering alternatives to our customs and production methods.
We understand sewing in its broadest sense, from making things more detailed to its purest use as a tool for fastening, bringing together all of these materials, experiences, knowledge, and the unknown.
Desire, feeling, and imagination are key to our search and creation.
In 2023, this group was launched with artist Maider Aldasoro, artist and Proyecto Hemen co-creator Estela Miguel, artist and JALEO t-shirt brand creator Mikel Ruiz Pejenaute, the Estudio Bokashi space for meeting, awareness, and debate on the future of fashion, as well as artist and Divinoteca founder Dogartzi Magunagoicoechea.
Throughout 2024, we will continue to be joined by Maider Aldasoro as the dynamic leader of the group, which will be rounded out with the collaboration of Estela Miguel and Mikel Ruiz Pejenaute.
Entry is free, however space is limited.
