Octubre, Abderrahmane Sissako, Mauritania, Malí, 1992, 37’, OV with Spanish subtitles.
Lumumba, la mort du prophète, Raoul Peck, France, Switzerland, Germany, 1990, 69', OV in Spanish.
Lumumba, la mort du prophète and Octubre (1992), initiation films by Raoul Peck, (Haití, 1953) and Abderrahmane Sissako (Mauritania, 1961) are the testimonies of a crucial moment in the transformation of the poetics of the African directors and their diaspora. Ousmane Sembène, Souleymane Cissé or Djibril Diop Mambéty are relieved in the 90' by a new generation of filmmakers located between the Second and Third Cinema that use in an imaginative way the archive, the soundtrack, the humour and the personal history to reflect about the exile, emigration, the burden of colonialism, the recovery of the reviled heroes and the memory.
