Óliver Pérez-Latorre is a professor at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF, Barcelona), specialising in game studies and imaginaries of contemporary fiction. He has a PhD in Social Communication from the UPF (2010), where he teaches video game design theory, video game culture and visual semiotics. He is the author of the book El lenguaje videolúdico (Laertes, 2012) and has published articles in academic journals such as Games and Culture, Game Studies, Convergence and Social Semiotics. He was co-director of a research project funded by the National R&D Programme: “Heroes of the crisis: narrative and social discourse in contemporary popular culture”. He was also co-curator of the Gameplay exhibition. Video game Culture, at the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) (December 2019 - August 2020).
