
The Artistic Activities Institute (JAI) is presented as a summer school with the intention of establishing a space for the development of these exchanges and intersections.
For this purpose, the programme brings together professionals from very different backgrounds, capable of identifying the potential of the artistic practice to look at the contemporary world and establish a critical relationship on the use of its languages. With a duration of 8 weeks, it is articulated on the basis of pedagogical proposals designed by artists for artists.
The programme tutors are: Ibon Aranberri, Itziar Okariz, Alejandro Cesarco and Olatz Otalora.
The teaching staff is made up of artists participating in the programmes of CICC Tabakalera, Artium Museoa and the Jorge Oteiza Museum Foundation. The list for 2025 includes Claire Atherton, Marwa Arsanios, Josu Bilbao, Fermín Jiménez Landa, Maider López and Eric La Casa.
The Artistic Activities Institute (JAI) study programme will take place between 2 July and 22 August. From 2 to 18 July training will take place in the spaces allocated for this purpose at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country - Artium Museoa, and from 28 July through 22 August it will take place mainly in Tabakalera’s Artists’ Space Workshop. From 28 July to 1 August the participants will travel to Alzuza for a short stay there as part of the collaboration with the Jorge Oteiza Museum Foundation.
The 2025 edition of JAI will take place from 2 July to 22 August at the venues of the project's promoters.
