O.R.G.I.A.

O.R.G.I.A is a three-headed monster (those of Beatriz Higón, Carmen Muriana, and Tatiana Sentamans) that, since 2001, has used its artistic creation and research to address questions relating to gender, sex, and sexuality from a queer, feminist perspective. This is a fluctuating, unstable, bastard identity that moves through different methodological disciplines obeying its desires, driven by its political and artistic restlessness. Its production overlaps and confuses with its artistic training and experience in life and research. They are diverse elastic and porous perspectives that come together in a single imagination, where visual creation is a valuable tool for criticism.

O.R.G.I.A is a heterotopic space where, when entered, laws, time, and pleasure are marked by the amorphous being that reluctantly accepts. Responsibility and subjectivity delude in "sticky" periods of research, debate, and materialisation. Its peculiar, porous activity has been translated into numerous showings at national and international institutional and outlying exhibitions, as well as workshops, seminars, conferences, cultural practices, and projects.

Included among our exhibitions over the last five years are the individual showing En los bajos de la pirámide invertida (Puertas de Castilla), or the collective showings Nuestro deseo es una Revolución. Imágenes de la diversidad sexual en el Estado español 1977-2017 (CentroCentro Cibeles), Alén dos Xéneros (MARCO), Poéticas y prácticas ecofeministas…o cómo salirse del guión (The Spanish Cultural Centre in Mexico), and Genealogías del feminismo en el arte español 1960-2010 (MUSAC).

Currently, and in parallel with other open series such as Follarse la Ciudad (in which we address the sexualisation of public space), we review history through a critical perspective as a device of knowledge used to standardise identities in our most recent project MNH (Museo Natural de Historia).
