This workshop provides an introduction to the practice of origami, the ancient Japanese art of transforming paper by folding it in an ordered way. This technical and artistic activity is not only enjoyable but keeps the mind and the hands agile, not to mention the satisfaction derived from creating specific objects. We’ll see how this technique enables us to turn a flat sheet of paper into a 3D shape or texture.
The workshop is therefore a general introduction to origami, covering the basics, the history of the technique and how it has developed, etc.
We’ll learn how to manipulate paper and to make the basic folds required for creating any figure. We’ll also learn different folding techniques for applying what we’ve learned to other materials (textiles, plastics, metals, etc.).
In addition, we’ll learn indispensable origami tools and discover different origami approaches and types.
Come along and discover the world of origami.
