Oriol Pares is a New Media Artist specialised in the use of new technologies as a means of communication. He is trained in classical music, experimental electronic music, and visual arts, and carries out his professional activities combining academic research with creation/production and pedagogy. Pares is currently part of the Doctorate programme Contemporary Art Research group at the UPV/EHU Faculty of Fine Arts. His project is entitled: Quantum Echoes.
Pares finds his natural creative space at the intersection between art and science. He is deeply interested in the architecture of sound and matter (and how they can be organised to positively influence the construction of our reality), uses advanced technologies to evoke physical spaces of collaboration and reflection, presenting culturally accepted conventions from a unique perspective, while at the same time encouraging connections between consciousness and nature.
His work has been presented at various international events, including festivals such as: Klang Festival (DK), Milano Música (IT), Internationale Ferienkurse fur Neue Music Darmstadt (DE), Next Generation Donaueschingen Musiktage (DE).
