As part of the Oh Portugal! season, we've given our guests carte blanche to select a film from the History of Portuguese cinema that has made an impact on their careers. Teresa Villaverde has chosen this classic, considered to be one of the founding films of Portugal’s Cinema Novo. Julio is 19 and has just arrived in one of the poor outlying districts in Lisbon, where he works as a shoemaker's apprentice. There he meets Julia. And that is when his idyll begins.
