Out of Sync (music and revolutions) is a programme framed in the biennial project Stimulants: Circulation and Euphoria in which over a two-day period offers the audience a chance to enjoy a programme of concerts, lectures and auditions, among others: Vomir, Matthieu Saladin, Miguel Álvarez Fernández, RAS, Ereski abesbatza, i-doser, José Luis Maire, Mattin...
The effects of rhythm can be seen in any alternation to which we turn our attention: in the act of walking, in the effects of the climate on the landscape, in the shapes that extend into the surface of the water or in the heart rate and beat of our body. Even though we are aware that it is impossible to reduce the rhythm to the area of music, dance or games produced by the human voice, this programme starts off in listening and in sound.
The philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau (Geneva, 1712 – Ermenonville, 1778) in his Dictionary of Music (1768) considers percussion to be the instruments of licentiousness and euphoria par excellence. Some effects generated by the sequenced repetition caused by an alteration of temporary sensations or by the intensity of the sound. Factors which, however, never quite fully explain or resolve the effervescent nature of music. Through auditions, talks and concerts, Out of Sync explores the unexpected energy that deploys music for a critical reflection on a time that has been reduced to something measurable and homogeneous.
Out of Sync, in collaboration with the musician Xabier Erkizia, is an invitation to confront the political dimension of music, its ability to propose other uses of time: passionate, intense and open to the unexpected.
