Pablo La Parra Pérez (Gandia, Valencia, 1987) is a PhD candidate at New York University (NYU). His research explores the militant film culture developed in late-Francoist Spain and the transition, with particular focus on its links to the political dissent movements that made up the international cycle of struggles in 1968.

He has published research articles in international journals such as the Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies ("Revueltas lógicas: el ciclo de movilización del 15M y la práctica de la democracia radical") (Logical revolts: the mobilisation of the 15-M movement and the practice of radical democracy) and Sociologias ("Contar hoy la violencia de ayer: vídeo y literatura actual sobre la transición política española” (Dealing with yesterday’s violence today: video and current literature on the Spanish political transition), with Julio Souto Salom). He has also published chapters in the book on artist Antoni Abad's megafone.net project ("El artista como maestro ignorante: la colectivización de la voz artística") (The artist as an ignorant master: the collectivisation of the artistic voice) and the media representation of the migrant population ("Las imágenes llegan antes. Notas en torno a la subexposición y la sobreexposición de la migración ilegalizada en España”) (Images come first. Notes about the under- and overexposure of illegal migration in Spain). He has taken part in specialised conferences in the United States, Canada, Ireland and Spain.

Prior to joining NYU in 2012, he did a Master's degree in Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Thought at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Previously he did a degree on the History of Art at the University of Valencia, obtaining an extraordinary degree award and the national award for excellence in academic performance.

He has published articles on cultural criticism and political analysis in the national and international media.
