Paris 1900, Nicole Védrès, France, 1947, 74' 2K DCP, OV FR, Sub ES
Remastered 2K DCP. International revival at the Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival (Bologna), 2017.
A classic example of a historic film montage, Paris 1900 is both a visual documentation of a great city and an essay on the passage of time. The write and filmmaker Nicole Vedrès used documents from the time and extracts from more than seven hundred films that reflect life in Paris between 1900 and 1914. From the Exposition Universelle to the great figures of high French society, this piece's images become a celebration of the mundane and of the people who populated the world at the beginning of the twentieth century.
