Phantom of the Paradise, Brian de Palma, 1974, 92', OV with Spanish subtitles.
Opera, fantasy, Gothic horror, screaming and rock 'n' roll, what more could you ask for. This is a cult classic. In this glam/surf/pop version of The Phantom of the Opera, the antihero is Winslow, a disfigured composer whose scores have been stolen who is fighting to confront the evil Swan (the mythical Paul Williams). With that storyline, everything is possible: a classical love story, a struggle of good against evil in the wings of a haunted theatre and unlimited sounds from the stage. And all this under the baton of Brian de Palma who at the time had just presented his first great thriller Sisters (1973) and was just about to adapt his next great classic, Carrie (1976).
