What is open design? We will reflect upon design as a tool for empowerment and evaluation for generating changes or an impact on our surroundings. What repercussions does replicating or remixing have? We will learn different methods of hacking and freeing objects to then develop others in the workshop.
Remix-it! is a workshop for both the general public and for design and/or architecture students; the idea of the workshop is to introduce participants to the world of open design and to change the established formats and roles that the ‘standards’ of regulated education have made us accustomed to with respect to the production, generation and manufacture of ideas or design products.
The workshop consists of two parts: one more theoretical, with discussions where there will be an explanation of what open design is, how it can be generated, how a design can be freed, what the difference is between remixing, hacking, copying, etc; and another practical part where participants will design open prototypes based on other objects.
