The school is the first common and public space we come into contact with during childhood and, as an everyday place, we believe it has an important influence on development and the ways in which relationships are built. Thinking, designing and building these spaces collectively involves transformations in terms of both space and community.

These meetings aim to reflect on the artistic and collaborative practices that occur in the context of school common areas, reviewing the relations established between the educational community and the external players involved in these processes. We will learn about projects and experiences of other contexts that will allow us to work on issues such as the importance of the process, the need for active participation by students, the design of critical methodologies and the promotion of collaborative practices.

Each school community has its own characteristics and it is essential to start with these needs and working methods. It is also important for the school to recognise the knowledge and dynamics artistic practice can bring.

Thus, without proposing closed formulas, examples will be given that may be useful for everyone based on specific contexts and situations and focusing on achievements, difficulties and contradictions.

During the programme, we will hear about 4 different experiences, creating a space in which to reflect on their development and learning. The guest speakers will make their presentation on the following issues:

 

  • What context has the project been developed in? What were the conditions?

  • What kind of relationship has been created between the school community and external players?

  • What is the project's potential? And what are its difficulties and risks?

  • What kind of diffusion and/or projection do these projects offer?
