The research will focus on artistic practices and projects that adopt and enact not only collective work, but also and particularly, institution building as key methodologies. Our
proposal is to investigate the politics, poetics and ethics embedded in artistic institution building in a variety of social fields, and the modalities through which acts and practices of mimicking, mocking, detourning and appropriating dominant formats, can actually contaminate and subvert the logics of both political-economic and cultural domination.
The residency will be a precious occasion to analyse more in depth this subject, advancing in the research, mapping and reflection on institutional collective artistic practices from the African and Middle Eastern contexts, while opening it up to comparative analysis into subversive projects in other geographical settings.
