During the residency I plan to select, organise, mock up and edit images and texts for a book and a film piece, both originating from the same journey: the path I will take from Madrid to Donostia-San Sebastián. The journey stems from a need to cross borders, from the drive to put thought into action and to practise a form of resistance in several senses: the body's ability to ‘withstand’ and the political and ethical value of not giving up, of battling lethargy, of resisting in the sense that Deleuze pointed out: What is that mysterious relationship between a work of art and an act of resistance? Malraux says something very simple about art. He says: ‘it is the only thing that resists death’. Art is what resists. This path evokes past events. It draws on references and responds to current political situations which aggrieve us, affect bodies and underscore the differences and the economic instability generated by systems of control and production which have violated the premises of social wellbeing.
