Summer Sessions is a call for short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers. A network of cultural organizations from around the world sponsors and hosts the residencies that propose the exchange of projects among the network's agents.
Medialab Tabakalera annually hosts one or more creators for the development of an eight-week residency during the summer and the realization of their proposals in a framework of collaboration between the participating institutions of the Summer Sessions network. The residencies have a vocation of international exchange that will be recovered when the conditions make it possible. In its usual operation, each partner selects the artists and supports the development of their new project, acting as host or sponsor.
In the Summer Sessions network we firmly believe that the creation of art is essential in these uncertain times and therefore we are determined to continue with the Summer Sessions program. The objective is to present the results of the Summer Sessions in an international context once the coronavirus containment measures have been lifted.
