Female writers, readers, cartoonists, characters, main characters… What is women’s role in comics?
The workshop will be divided into two parts, one theoretical and the other practical.
Using the Bechdel Test as the starting point, the first half hour will be dedicated to analysing how women are treated, their presence and functions in the world of the comic. We will see examples of work that do not and do meet this test.
The rest of the workshop will be focused on creating your own comic book and we will first cover the basic notions of comic strips. This will help you to reflect on the type of social reality to be represented.
