The aim of this programme is the exchange of a curator residency between Arts Initiative Tokyo, in Japan, and Tabakalera - International Centre for Contemorary Art, in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain. This programme is developed with the collaboration of Acción Cultural España, (AC/E), Basque Institute Etxepare, Eu Japan Fest and The Agency for Cultural Affairs Government of Japan in the Fiscal 2016.
This call is addressed to curators developing their curatorial practices within the Basque Country (Autonomous Community) who are willing to explore new contexts and expand their artistic trajectory whilst the development of their practices.
The residency, which will last four weeks, will offer space, context and time for the development of the curatorial project. The residency will take place between November and December, 2016 at Arts Initiative Tokyo.
AIT was begun by six art curators and organisers in 2001 in Tokyo. Over the last fifteen years, Arts Initiative Tokyo - AIT has been dedicated to developing various residency programs to support creative works of artists, curators and writers. In 2016 AIT launches a collaborative residency programme with Tabakalera in Donostia / San Sebastián, Spain, to exchange curators with inspiring ideas for curatorial research and multidisciplinary practices to broaden perspectives, understanding and knowledge while nurturing cultural contexts rooted both in Spain and Japan.
