Summer, 1952. Josefina (8) lives with her brother Jorge (13) and mother, a Geologist in the Andes Mountains. Following a tragic accident, Josefina and Jorge are orphaned and land with their Aunt Berta, whose intense political and cultural life seeps into the home and personal lives of the children. Not feeling comfortable, Jorge soon leaves home. Josefina remains there with her aunt, her aunt’s husband, and her two cousins. Ellipses through time begin mixing together her personal life with the cultural, social, and political life of the tumultuous 1950s and 1960s.
