A woman disappears. Two men go looking for her: they both love her. Why did she leave? Each of them has their own suspicion, and hides it from the other who - mysteriously - never becomes their rival. No one is right, but is anyone? That sudden flight is revealed as the secret center of a series of fictions that the film subtly weaves together: the secret of another woman's heart, also lost many years ago; the secret of the life of a country town, shaken by a supernatural event that nobody seems to perceive; the secret of the plain, which does not stop spreading and devouring everything, like the shadows that flood the world after sunset.
