A nuclear explosion has caused all the inhabitants of an island to lose their voice and when it is recovered, they all have the same voice. This incident causes several problems among the population: the police have completely lost their authority, an orchestra conductor is frustrated at not being able to create beautiful compositions, and telephone calls are meaningless. A Finnish journalist lands on the island with the intention of interviewing a hermit who knows the most about this disturbing event. This short film, directed by Myriam Charles and filmed in Haiti, moves between science fiction and documentary.

Ste. Anne, Rhayne Vermette. 2021. Canada. 80’

Renée returns home after four years of being away. There she is reunited with her daughter, Athene, whom her brother raised during that time. In this family home, Renée is constantly reminded of Ste. Anne, a village in Manitoba, which we learn about through a photograph she shows her daughter. Rhayne Vermette, in her debut feature, explores the history of a family to paint a portrait of a territory, in which the Métis community also occupies a central place. The result is enchanting both for the texture of the shots and for the mystery they emanate.
