Maider Oleaga has created En el interior de cada fruta hay un pescado (Inside every fruit there is a fish), a proposal that emerges from the project commissioned to her within the framework of the exhibition Vive le Cinéma!.
The work, which takes the form of a video-essay, reviews the filmography of Isaki Lacuesta, an artist who participates in the exhibition. Oleaga chooses fragments of the Catalan director’s films to build a story that combines moving images, sound arrangements and the narration of a story that becomes Oleaga’s contribution to share what Lacuesta’s extensive work suggests to her.
This story told through a voice-over is embedded like a text, somewhere between a story, riddle or proverb, merging the layers that En el interior de cada
fruta hay un pescado travels through. The fact that different films share the same shot, and that the scenes from one film follow those of another takes us to an unknown perception of Lacuesta’s work. Oleaga produces unexpected relationships, unknown connections and overlapping rhythms that make sense in that split universe of Lacuesta’s.
