Sinopsis

We talked with Isaki Lacuesta which takes part in Vive le cinéma!, where four filmmakers turn their practice of making films for a cinema into creating film installations for an exhibition hall.

Isaki Lacuesta (1975, Girona) has written and directed ten full-length feature films, the last of which, One Year, One Night (2022), premièred at the official selection of the Berlin International Film Festival.

His earlier film, Between Two Waters (2018) won his second Golden Shell from the San Sebastian International Film Festival and awards for Best Picture and Best Actor from the Mar del Plata Film Festival, Fotogramas de Plata for Best Spanish Film that year, as well as seven Gaudí awards, including Best Non-Catalan Language Film and Best Director.

In 2018, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris dedicated an entire retrospective to his work, as well as the book Le cinéma d'Isaki Lacuesta (Brice Castanon and Sergi Ramos, ed).

His films have been screened at festivals around the world, and at art centres such as New York’s MoMA, the Lincoln Center, the Anthology Film Archives (New York), and the CCCB.
