Medea is the name of the video-essay that Irati Gorostidi has made about Dea Kulumbegashvili. The piece consists of several points. First: 1. The mother´s house. The starting point for the essay is the work by Kulumbegashvili, but Gorostidi goes right through it. For example, she will be the first woman we see on the screen. And through her voice, she will talk about another woman, about her mother. Two months after her mother´s death, Gorostidi filmed a number of shots with Mirari Echávarri: Gorostidi unmaking her mother´s bed. These are the images completing the film San Simón 62 that they have directed together. Gorostidi shows us some images on her laptop computer: Beginning by Kulumbegashvili, Jean Dielman, News from home and No home movie by Chantal Akerman, and several shots filmed by the author herself. Using the screen, Gorostidi will create a dialogue between several images, imaginaries and women, and just like her mind does, another concept will run through Medea: motherhood.
