
Consultant, researcher and professor in the fields of political ecology, eco-feminisms and sustainability education Herrero holds a PhD in Society, Politics and Culture from the University of the Basque Country. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, a diploma in Social Education and a Technical Engineering degree in Agriculture, as well as an Advanced Studies diploma in Education Theory and Social
Pedagogy.
In addition to working as a lecturer at various Spanish universities (and as associate lecturer at the University of Cantabria), she is currently a partner of Garúa Sociedad Cooperativa. She is spokesperson of the Transitions Forum. She has authored or co-authored more than thirty books and makes regular press contributions and media appearances.
She has actively participated in different social movements for several decades, particularly the ecologist movement. She forms part of Ecologistas en Acción (Ecologists in Action), an organisation of which she was Confederal Co-Coordinator between 2005 and 2014.
