The starting point for Katemailak (Chainlinks) is the investigation of an image associated with the collective imagination in a redundant and repetitive way: the chain. The horizontal, vertical and circular axes are used to indicate a field in which the formation of meaning becomes unstable, while the materials and processes used for the construction of the sculptures accentuate the processes of recombination that occur between the linguistic, historical, symbolic and biological levels. The blow of a hammer and the click of the tongue contribute to the formation of the same sequence or statement.
This technique, based on simultaneously showing aspects critical to the formation of an object, demonstrates the ambiguity of the sign. And, at times, the insistence on separating objectivity, science and rationality from the materiality of bodies, from the sensory and from what can cause any type of emotion breaks down. Metaphors can thus
spread in all directions. This is because they do not belong to the exclusive field of the poetic.
