Descripción Larga

AGORA / CEMENT / CODE is a publication, exhibition and investigation. It intends to activate a digital space for experimentation, research and production for contemporary aesthetic practices. It considers that a modern publication cannot limit itself to the printed word and must adapt to the communication and mediation dynamics of how our interconnected society operates. We are living in the audiovisual age. However, this widespread audiovisual environment no longer abides by the institutional codes that have structured and segmented the sector into individual, autonomous areas. Audiovisual creation is now a hybrid and impure space where languages, techniques and practices from all creative areas come into contact. It is a space where new and unstable relationships are established between expression and communication, between the author and the public as users who at times abandon the role of passive receivers to become co-creators.

The project wants to take shape as a widespread publication linked to the temporal creation and production methods of digital imaging. It presents itself as a collective creation. Lekutan proposes a context: to use form and content to investigate the fissure between ways of creating public art (from cement to the agora), other agora strategies and the digital code; an outbound and return arrow between 01 and the plaza, art and life. Each artist participating in the publication is tasked with creating not one exhibition piece but a chapter of a book looking at themes such as work, pop culture, fashion, ecologies, the urban space, the complexity of the domestic setting, time, identity, literature, co-creation and more. The publication blends archive images, documents, texts, interventions, videos, meme languages, GIFs and Instagram stories.
