Becky Siegel
Descripcion

Becky Siegel was born in Denver, Colorado (USA). She received her dance training in New York, where she studied with Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and Melissa Hayden, among others. Later, she danced with several of New York’s most important post-modern dance figures: Jeannie Hutchins and Richard Bull, in whose improvisational company she danced for many years. She earned a degree in Dance from Columbia University (New York), graduating Summa Cum Laude and receiving the first annual dance award. Shortly after, she formed her own company Timebenders, collaborating with composers such as Borha Bergman and Michael Brennan for her choreographies. In 1986, she moved to Barcelona, where she created projects with composer Jordi Rossinyol and numerous productions with clarinetist Miquel Gaspá and the theatre-dance group Silenci. During her stay in this city, she was a guest teacher for some of the most important companies in Spain: Lanonima Imperial, Danat Dansa, Ballet Contemporani de Barcelona, and others. Since 1992, Becky has lived in Pamplona, where she teaches Contemporary Dance and Improvisation. She is the director of the Tempomobile Dance Company, for which she has created twelve shows that have been performed in many Spanish and German cities. In 2013, Siegel started to focus on the therapeutic possibilities of dance, working with individuals with chronic illnesses, later expanding out to those with disabilities and creating the project ‘Bailar desde quienes somos’ (Dancing from Who We Are).
