Beñat Achiary

 

Singer-songwriter born in 1947. Formed part of the group Urria. His records include Achiary-Carter-Holmes (1996), Temps couché (1997) and Etage34 (1998). He is a professor of traditional music at the Conservatoire National de Région in Bayonne, together with Beñat Amorena. He has performed several times at the Montreuil festival. He released Voix Basques in 2001 in Bayonne (Lapurdi), a record that blends his Basque roots, the culture defined by European improvisation and other traditions, including those of the Navajo.
