Emmy Skensved is a Canadian artist based in Berlin, Germany. Her practice spans a variety of media including sculpture, digital animation, audio, and web design, and is informed by her interest in interpersonal relationships, themes of belonging, kinship, care, and the practices that hold communities together.
Skensved holds an AOCAD Diploma from OCAD University in Toronto and an MFA degree from the University of Waterloo. She has been the recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Stiftung Kunstfonds. She has attended residencies at the Seoul Museum of Art (Seoul, Korea), Cripta747 (Turin, Italy), and the Banff Centre (Banff, Canada). Recent exhibitions include Interlude at P21 Gallery in Seoul, Korea, All Together Now at SeMA Nanji, in Seoul, Korea, and the Taehwa River Eco Art Festival, in Ulsan, Korea. Reviews and interviews featuring Skensved have appeared in Rhizome, DIS, Mousse, Flash Art, Sleek and Canadian Art.
