Hiroshima mon amour, Alain Resnais, France, 1959, 90 min. Film in original version, with subtitles in Basque.
After shooting a film in Hiroshima, a young French actress spends her last night in a hotel in the company of a Japanese man. They are strangers, but what could be a fleeting one-night stand turns into an intense love affair that makes her recall an impossible love lived out in Nevers (France) a few years earlier. The love affair then becomes an introspective process through which the woman reconstructs her past and reveals her innermost feelings to her partner.
