Strangely, in a modern world dominated by technology and immediacy, crafts are increasingly in demand. The number of people interested in hand-written posters, signs, books and texts has grown in recent years, and there's a definite will to recuperate craftsmanship and trade-based know-how.
This workshop is designed to give an insight into calligraphy. We’ll work on the fundamentals of ‘beautiful writing’ and take our first steps in this enthralling discipline. We’ll learn how to handle writing tools: the double pencil, fountain pens and reed pens. We’ll also learn how to make our own ink. We’ll become accustomed to these tools whilst working with the Neuland writing style, and we’ll learn about ductus and compose phrases and texts.
You don’t need any previous knowledge of calligraphy. This is your opportunity to try out the technique and discover different tools and materials.
