Juan Carlos Rodríguez Delgado. He has been a professor of Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country for 32 years. The subjects he has taught include Anthropology of Classical Greece, Philosophy and History of Religions, and History of Thought, broadening the scope of reflection to other cultural traditions (India, China, etc.), and to other realms beyond philosophy (tragedy, religion, etc.). He has published articles on diverse aspects of Greek thought and on theories of symbolism, Ernst Cassirer and totalitarianism. He is the author of the book El desarme de la cultura. Una lectura de la Ilíada (The Disarmament of Culture. A Reading of the Iliad) (Katz, 2010). His research interests lie mainly in the cultural factors of violence and suffering, and in the Platonic and Christian conditioning in Western thought.
