Miguel Mesa del Castillo has a degree in architecture from the Madrid Advanced Technical School of Architecture, and a PhD in Architecture from the University of Alicante. Among other fellow architects, he has collaborated with Francisco Alonso de Santos, José María Torres Nadal, Massimiliano Fuksas and Andrés Jaque. From 2002 to 2007 he was an associate architect at the AdHoc Studio in Murcia.

From 1996 to 2005 he lived in Italy, where he was an assistant lecturer at the Università degli Studi “La Sapienza”, in Rome. He has published many papers on cities, architecture and society in diverse specialist journals and has given talks at the La Casa Encendida, Medialab Prado, the University of Seville and the Royal Danish Accademy of Fine Arts.

He has been a guest lecturer at Iaac (Barcelona), the Istituto Nazionale di Architettura (Rome) and the LaBoral in Gijón, among others. He currently lectures at the University of Alicante, where he directs the Master's Degree in Architecture and edits the magazine i2, published by the Department of Graphic Expression.
