We are currently seeing a growing interest in the intersection between disciplines, and many scientific organisations are driving cultural activities in their spaces by inviting creators to spend time in their laboratories, for example, in contact with the research community. We live in a moment where science is showing us the way to describe nature, and these strategies can be understood within this framework as a means of participating in a wider and more pertinent social debate. At CERN, scientists and engineers from around the world work together in collaboration with the aim of understanding the topic’s essential elements. Since 2012, they have also been supported by Arts at CERN, the Laboratory’s pioneer art programme that was created to promote dialogue between art, science, and society. In this discussion, we will reflect on the role of Arts at CERN within the Laboratory’s framework, and the way in which it establishes connections between creators and researchers, and its impact on culture and contemporary creation.
The role of Arts at CERN in the frame of the Laboratory, the way in which it establishes links between creative & research communities and its impact on culture
