Txaranga Urretabizkaia presents Zortzia etzan (Tipping eight on its side), a series of pieces composed for Scala taking into account the physical and material characteristics of the location.
Departing from their usual live performance format, where the performative takes on special importance, they have worked for the first time with recorded sounds, both in the studio and in the staircase space itself, creating compositions that aim to explore the sound possibilities offered by the Tabakalera octophonic system. Some of these pieces take on the character of an exercise in which the musicians “act” following certain rules of the game, while others point out the paradoxes of musical composition through the extension of the tempo or tonal minimisation. All of them have been conceived, created and adapted to the Scala space, whose architectural details have been used as instruments to perform certain compositions.
Each day you will be able to listen to a single piece, the order of which is shown in the calendar. For a more detailed understanding of each piece, it is recommended that you refer to the scores displayed in the installation itself.
