This presentation will combine the visions and voices of Laura Tabarés and Julieta Wibel to explore the moment of friction that arises in and from interactions in the digital, delving into the concept of the bug as a key to understanding the uncanny. The conversation will analyze the historical biases that have influenced the design of these entities (AIs, chatbots, assistants) and how in contact with these non-neutral creations we can feel a disturbing familiarity. It will also explore the aesthetics of the uncanny or how art and new trends are embracing the uncanny valley, as well as possible methods for practical engagement with uncanny art making. The conjunction of these visions will allow us to explore the practice of relating to these new digital entities to enrich our understanding of them.
